1st Day CAPE TOWN
Upon arrival in Cape Town, you will be welcomed by the Italian guide who will accompany you to your hotel. In the afternoon, you will have the opportunity to take an introductory tour of the city, and if weather permits, you can ascend Table Mountain (officially considered one of the seven wonders of the world). From the top, you can enjoy the spectacular panorama of the city and Table Bay, the bay embracing Cape Town.
Hotel: RADISSON WATERFRONT HOTEL 5*****
Room type: Standard Double – Board: Bed and Breakfast
2nd Day CAPE TOWN -- Excursion to Cape Point
After breakfast, you will meet the Italian guide in the reception area and depart for the excursion to the Cape of Good Hope Peninsula, known for its incredibly scenic landscapes! During the excursion, you will have the opportunity to visit Hout Bay, Seal Island (the seal colony), Cape Point (the southernmost tip of Africa, where the Indian Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean theoretically meet), the charming "Jack Ass" penguin colony at Boulders Beach, and the magnificent Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.
3rd Day CAPE TOWN -- (activity to be decided)
The guide will be at your disposal throughout the day to accompany you during the chosen activity.
OPTION 1:
You can visit the picturesque and romantic Cape Winelands in the Western Cape province, which are less than an hour's drive from Cape Town. In addition to exploring Stellenbosch and Franschhoek and enjoying the scenic landscape of green hills and endless vineyards, you will have the opportunity to visit various wine estates and taste the excellent locally-produced wines, famous worldwide.
OPTION 2:
Explore the city center and visit the Bo Kaap neighborhood, with its small mosques and buildings dating back to the Dutch occupation period. Nearby is the South African Museum, an ethnographic-naturalistic museum overlooking the Company's Garden, the first garden built by the Dutch East India Company to supply passing ships with vegetables, now transformed into a beautiful garden with ancient trees and squirrels. Overlooking the garden is also the Parliament House.
OPTION 3:
You could enjoy the fabulous beaches of Cape Town, such as the long white sandy beach of Camps Bay or the 4 beaches of Clifton, the most popular among locals and tourists alike.
OPTION 4:
For those not interested in beaches, we recommend a visit to Robben Island, the prison island where Nelson Mandela was exiled for 18 years during the Apartheid era. It is now part of South Africa's cultural heritage and is open to the public. Advance booking is required.
OPTION 5:
Between June and October, you might consider a trip to Hermanus, a small town along the coast about 90 minutes from Cape Town. Hermanus is considered the world capital for Southern Right whale watching, as these whales approach the South African coast during this time of year. The boat excursion must be booked in advance and costs Rand 1,100 per person.
4th Day from CAPE TOWN to the PRIVATE RESERVE/CONCESSION
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for a scheduled flight to Hoedspruit. Upon arrival, you will meet the driver and head to Hamiltons Tented Camp, located in one of the few private concessions within Kruger Park. In the afternoon, you will have the opportunity to embark on the first thrilling safari aboard open 4x4 vehicles, guided by expert rangers. The safari will last for over 3 hours, and you will return to the lodge after sunset.
Hotel: HAMILTONS TENTED CAMP 5*****
Room Type: Tented Suite – Overnight stays include: All meals and safaris
5th Day in the PRIVATE RESERVE/CONCESSION
Departure at dawn for the first of the 2 safaris scheduled for the day. During the safaris, encountering the 'Big Five' (Lions, Leopards, Rhinoceroses, Elephants, and Buffaloes) is not uncommon. These large African mammals were considered by old hunters to be the most challenging animals to hunt on foot. The 4x4 vehicles provided to the rangers allow you to get close to both large and small animals to appreciate them up close in their natural environment amidst the stunning beauty of nature.
6th Day in the PRIVATE RESERVE/CONCESSION & MPUMALANGA
After the morning safari and breakfast, transfer to Hoedspruit airport, where you will pick up the reserved car at the AVIS office and head towards White River, passing through the Blyde River Canyon. The vast plateau upon which Johannesburg rests plunges here, along the eastern escarpments of the Drakensberg mountain range, for over 1000 meters, into lush gorges and canyons. A breathtaking scenery dominated by the imposing rock formations of the Three Rondavels. Stop at God's Window to once again admire the fantastic panorama over the Blyde River Canyon, then continue to the town of White River, where Olivers Lodge is located.
Hotel: OLIVERS LODGE 4****
Room Type: Standard Double – Overnight stays include: Breakfast
7th Day in MPUMALANGA/WHITE RIVER
You'll have a full day to explore this part of the Mpumalanga region, where you'll find the towns of Sabie, Graskop, and the village of Pilgrim’s Rest. This is the area where, just before the discovery of the gold reef on which Johannesburg stands, South Africa experienced its first gold rush. Between 1874 and 1878, over 1500 men extracted alluvial gold here, valued at over £1,500,000!
8th Day in MPUMALANGA – JOHANNESBURG
After breakfast, you'll head to Nelspruit "KMI Airport," located about 70 km from your hotel. You'll drop off the car at the AVIS office at the airport and take a South African Airways flight to Johannesburg. Upon arrival in Johannesburg, you'll begin your journey back to Italy.
